How Respite Works for Caregivers in Alberta

Respite services provide caregivers a planned break from primary care duties through in-home, out of home, and at-centre respite services.

Out-of-Home Respite

Your loved one comes to stay with us for an average of 2-3 days in an Entrust Residential Care Homes in Edmonton and area. They are treated to individualized creative activities and receive specialized support if needed. You also get 24-hour respite for scheduled overnight or weekend stays.

Respite Accommodation Home Stays

Designed for longer stays of 5-10 days, this type of care involves your loved staying with us in one of our Edmonton based residential care homes. We have multiple homes with a dedicated amount of beds reserved exclusively for short-term respite care.

This option is ideal for caregivers who need a longer break such as a holiday, and allows your loved ones to gain independence and get used to being away from home while still having all the support they need.

Who Pays for Respite Care in Edmonton?

For those not receiving aid from established programs like Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD), Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), or support from Edmonton Public Schools, our services are available for a fee.
