Meaningful Employment: Glengarry Child Care Society

Apr 14, 2016

Brad West, Executive Director of Glengarry Child Care Society shares how 1 weekly volunteer quickly became 6:

"Glengarry Child Care Society has been providing high quality care to children and families since 1969. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to children while parents pursue employment and educational opportunities. We welcome children of all abilities so it seemed a perfect fit when we partnered with Entrust to provide volunteer opportunities for their clients.

We started out with 1 volunteer as kitchen assistant to help with baking for the children’s snacks; quickly it grew to 6 regular volunteers that come in weekly and take care of a number of tasks, including folding laundry, pet care, toy cleaning, and kitchen assistance. We were very happy to offer a fulltime paid position to one of our volunteers in March 2016. This continues to be an amazing partnership that benefits our programs and the clients of Entrust."
