Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get funding for respite support?

To qualify, clients must have FSCD or PDD funding. If you lack funding, click here to learn more about the application process.

What does the staffing ratio look like at the Centre?

Our typical staffing ratio is 1:1, but it usually depends on your funding. We believe in providing the highest level of care possible and ensuring that each child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.

Is respite care the same as daycare?

The Entrust Centre for Supports is not a daycare or babysitting facility.

Do you offer sibling care, and how much does it cost?

We offer sibling care, which can be paid out of pocket. If you are interested in sibling care, please discuss it with your Intake Coordinator during your Initial Consultation.

Does our child stay in one room during the duration of their program?

No, the individualized programming is built with various activities that allow our clients to move around the Centre and even do activities outdoors, depending on the needs and preferences of the client. We are intentional with the space we use and create engaging programs.

Do you have a set schedule?

We currently don’t have a set schedule and adapt to the client’s preference and the needs of their family. We can easily modify the schedule with the best time for everyone.

How frequently can I bring my child?

It depends on your funding, but we can support your expectations and needs. We will consider your available hours and help you plan to maximize your child’s time.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you choose to terminate our service, please provide a minimum of two weeks’ notice. During this period, families are welcome to attend their scheduled respite sessions. If they decide not to attend their scheduled respite, they will be invoiced for three hours per unattended shift. This charge applies because both the space and staff have already been booked for your family prior to the cancellation.

Do we provide therapy?

No, the Centre for Supports is not a therapy centre. Respite is not intended for skill development. While some learning can happen during their activities, it is not the primary goal of respite.

Do you provide group activities for socialization?

Currently, our respite services focuses on matching the child with their dedicated staff member. In the future, we are planning to have a calendar of activities that will incorporate social interaction and community participation.

Are community outings possible?

Yes, the staff from the Centre can take the children for outings into the nearby community. Mileage and admission fees may apply. All outings must have parent/guardian approval prior to going.
